A few weeks ago my family and I went on a little vacay to one of my favorite cities....Nashville, Tennessee
Home to Country Music
and Barbeque...lots of barbeque.
*Please note: I have never claimed my diet/lifestyle as "vegan". I just eat as nutritiously and as plant based as possible.
Now this is a beauty blog so why would I be posting about plant based food in Nashville TN?
#1 I have a platform and I want to help others who may be on a plant based diet and are taking a trip to Nashville :D
#2 I believe eating a healthy and clean diet can dramatically effect your skin, hair and nails for the better... so I always try to nourish my skin and hair even when I'm away from home :)
So now that that is all out of the way, lets begin!
We took a roadtrip to Nashville, so before we left in the morning I made 2 smoothies to sip on while we were driving.
Yes 2 smoothies....and yes I had to pee a lot.
driving stop: Cracker Barrel
My family wanted to stop at Cracker Barrel, so I ordered all sides (weird fact: sides are literally my favorite thing to order at any restaurant)
I Packed a few slices of whole wheat bread and some individual packets of almond butter...yep that was basically dinner for everyone haha!
Breakfast in Nashville
The hotel offered free hot water and breakfast. I had also prepared a little baggies of oatmeal, then I just used the hot water to make the oats :)
You can always buy oatmeal packs premade, but I think it's more fun and economical to make them yourself :)
Snacks, yep that was lunch!
Basically I packed everything I wrote in this blog post:
My favorite store bought vegan snacks (that aren't just fruits and veggies!)
I ordered all sides again :)
The portion sizes were larger than most restaurants, so I actually shared most of it with my family.
We went and saw a concert at the bridgestone arena,
I was surprised that they sold vegan options like roasted peanuts and sweet popcorn made with coconut oil (instead of butter!)
Breakfast +Lunch: Day 2
Same thing as day 1, but this time they offered fresh fruit (thank goodness!)
looking back at the pictures my oatmeal looks really pathetic...I promise you it was still absorbing the water :)
dinner: Graze Cafe
I was dying to go to this vegan restaurant in East Nashville and I am so glad I went. It was an extremely unique experience that I'll never forget.
The food was delicious, the staff were so fun and friendly, seriously one of the coolest restaurants I have ever been to. One of my favorite memories of Nashville.
I highly recommend (even if you are not plant-based) you to visit.
Breakfast Day 3
basically same thing as day 1 and day 2
Lunch: Whole Foods
I heard you can spot celebrities (I saw 2!) at whole foods and I was craving fresh fruit. So I literally bought a box of cut up fruit (watermelon, grapes, blueberries, pineapple, peaches...) from Whole Food's cold bar.
Lunch part 2: Juice Bar
I watch the show "Chrisleys know best" and they own this juice bar in Nashville so I just had to visit :)
all smoothies are 100% plant based and completely customizable.
I bought the "berry good" one
and yes it was berry good.
Dinner: Hotel room cooking
I wanted some alone time and my family wanted to go out to barbeque, so I just stayed in the hotel room and made a little container of microwavable brown rice and some split pea soup :)
This meal is loaded with protein, fiber, and lots of nutrients.
Breakfast: Day 4
exactly the same as day 1, 2, and 3
Never been to a Shoney's before.
Despite all the nutritious vegan options (sarcasm) I just had some steamed veggies and a "fruit cup".
Luckily I had a thrive bar to snack on, haha!
Roadtrip: Mc Donalds
Bought a kid sized bag of apples and I had previously saved a banana from the hotel and a little tub of peanut butter...my five star dinner is served.
