I love fall. The weather (although this year it's abnormally hot), pumpkins, Halloween, warm toned eye shadows... it all just makes me feel happier!
But there is one thing I hate about fall. Every time I go to the grocery store I am reminded that the fresh fruit of the summer is slowly disappearing :(
Before we know it, it will be winter and pint of fresh blueberries will cost $10 (and I wish I was being dramatic!).
Although the summer's fruits and veggies are leaving, there are still some amazing hair, nail, and skin loving beauty superfoods that are now in season!
So which one is featured this month???
watercress is probably pretty unexpected... some of you might have never seen or tried watercress before
(to be honest I've never even heard of watercress until I started doing research for this blog post, haha!)
According to dictionary.com (wow, that sounds super professional...not) watercress is defined as, "the leaves, used for salads, soups, and as a garnish".
Personally watercress taste like a combination of radish and parsley (yummy! lol). Therefore I can only eat small portions (but everything counts right? haha!).
so what vitamins and minerals make watercress this month's beauty superfood?
Vitamin K is known to have outstanding healing properties.
Vitamin K may heal bruising faster, minimize under eye circles, heal scars, and more!
1 cup of chopped raw watercress gives you 106% of your vitamin K (nutrition facts found from here)
Vitamin C is in almost every natural skincare product, especially moisturizers and oils. Here's why, vitamin C can heal dry skin problems, prevent aging (by boosting collagen production), and it gives your skin a pretty glow!
If you've read my past blogs or any other article about superfoods and it's relationship with your body, you know how powerful antioxidants are for your health and your skin,
basically Antioxidants=Anti aging!!!
Vitamin K, Vitamin C, and antioxidants made watercress, my featured beauty superfood of October. Thank you so much for reading!
