We all love having nice nails, but going to the salon every week or two for a manicure can be expensive and time consuming! So I wanted to share with you my manicure method, for healthier and beautifully polished nails!
1. Remove Polish
Use a nail polish remover to remove old polish and soak off any nail enhancements.
2. gently file nails
Using a nail abrasive file, gently file nails to your desired shape. I prefer to use a fine grit abrasive, or a glass file.
3. gently buff nails (optional)
If your nails have deep ridges or you want smoother and shinier nails, use a nail buffer to gently buff the nail plate's surface.
4.apply cuticle softener/remover
Use a small amount of cuticle softener around your cuticle area, follow all instructions on the product's packaging to find out how long it should sit and absorb for (before continuing to step 5)
I use this one :)
5. push back the cuticles
Using a metal or wooden pusher gently push the cuticle area back, then wash hands. with warm water to remove any product residue
Haha! I couldn't figure out how to take a picture of my own hand, while pushing back my cuticles, so I'd thought I would show you on a fake hand :) #thankyoucosmetologyschool
6. apply a nail oil
apply a drop of nail oil around the cuticle area, massage each nail and let product absorb, Massaging the nail beds, brings circulation and blood flow, which promotes faster nail growth!
7. remove nail oil from nail plate surface with nail polish remover
You want your nail surface to be as clean and free of residue as possible for the longest and best looking polish results.
8. apply a base coat or nail enhancing polish
Applying a base coat gives the smoothest and longest lasting results. Applying a nail enhancement polish (such as a nail hardener, nail growth product, etc.) can help nourish your nails to a healthier condition, Let the base coat dry completely.
9. apply a colored polish
Apply 2 coats of your favorite color and let dry completely.
10. nail design (optional)
Nail designs give your polish a completely new look. Play with glitters, ombres, cute little designs! Need ideas? I have an entire PInterest Board dedicated to Nail art ;) and feel free to follow me for a bunch of beauty inspiration!
11. apply topcoat
Apply a coat of your favorite topcoat. Experiment with different shines and finishes! Different finishes (such as matte or high shine) makes your polish collection seem more versatile.
Thank you so much for reading, hope you (and your wallet) enjoys!
