I used to have long hair...like really long hair...like really really really long hair...
Then I decided to chop it off. Then I decided to grow it out again, and then chop it again, and the never ending hair cycle continues.
This week I thought I'd share with you my top tips for getting longer and healthier locks :)
massage your scalp
I learned about scalp massage/manipulations in cosmetology school. Massage brings blood flow to the scalp, which stimulates hair growth. For extra blood flow (and potentially better results), lean over at your waist and bend your head downward towards the floor.
brush your hair
Similar to massage, brushing your hair also stimulates hair growth.
castor or coconut oil masks
A lot of people swear that castor oil (specifically Jamaican Black Castor Oil) assists with hair growth. Many create castor oil scalp masks, by applying castor oil to the scalp and letting it soak for 2 hours (to read more about that masking process, click here)
If you are looking to increase your overall wellness, consider making some changes to your diet. I personally follow a plant based diet, and have found lots of beneficial changes to my hair health. Many sources recommend eating healthy fats (such as avocados, nuts, and seeds) along with proteins (for example beans, lentils, quinoa, etc.) to increase hair growth and hair health!
let your hair down
Most girls I know sleep with their hair in a tight bun, pony tail, or braid. This can cause breakage and constrict blood flow in the scalp. So let your hair down while you sleep, or put loosely out of your face, or even better put it in a silk scarf, which prevents frizzing!
I hope you enjoyed this post, do you have any hair growth tips? Let me know in the comments or on my instagram, (@jordanaaabeauty). I appreciate you for reading and I wish you luck on your hair growth journey!
